I was first exposed to this concept in English class... It’s not exactly a hard idea to grapple with. The image of a woman who is strong, passionate, and holds her self-esteem high isn't a modern invention, but how many of these women do we see every day, in terms of real life and entertainment? And are these the women we look up to as role models? Some may call this woman a “bitch” and others may say she’s too high-strung or too high maintenance. It's not unusual, however, that a man who knew what he wanted and worked hard and aggressively to get there would be seen as “ideal” where as the woman would be doubted and, at times, criticized. This is where the idea of thick skin comes to mind. A brave dame should not let other’s criticism get to her, instead she should stand up for herself and continue on with resilience. She should realize that a woman is going to face more difficulties than a man, but a woman will not ask for pity because she will face them with strength and courage. She will make herself and the ones that care about her proud. These are the qualities of a brave woman, the woman that just needs a little spark.
