To the left is an excerpt from an interview conducted by New York magazine in 2008 of Palestinian poet, Suheir Hammad, and 1970's women's rights advocate, Gloria Steinem. New York magazine proposes an interesting question that has been, in more recent years, the topic of much debate; Is feminism still needed? Obviously, Shanzay and I think so, but what do YOU guys think? If feminism is defined as "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes" (Merriam-Webster), have we reached our goal?
